Position Type: Temporary, May and June, Full-Time (Summer Position) – with the possibility of extension for another 2 months

The Canadian Bhutanese Society is seeking a highly motivated and passionate individual to join our team as a Community Program Director for the summer. As the Community Program Director, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the lives of the Bhutanese community by coordinating and executing various programs and events. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact and gain valuable experience in community development.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and oversee community events, including cultural celebrations, workshops, and recreational activities.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local organizations, businesses, and community stakeholders to foster partnerships and collaborations.
  • Develop and implement innovative strategies to engage community members and increase participation in society programs.
  • Assist in creating promotional materials, such as flyers, social media posts, and newsletters, to effectively communicate program details and initiatives.
  • Provide administrative support, including maintaining records, managing registrations, and handling inquiries from community members.

Requirements:

  • Must be at the age of 18-30, currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution preferably in a relevant field such as community development, social work, or event management.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with social media platforms.
  • Knowledge of Bhutanese culture and familiarity with the Bhutanese community in Canada is an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and a genuine passion for community development and social integration.
