Lethbridge’s Canadian Bhutanese Society (CBS) rang in the new year Sunday – for the year 2070.
In the Vikram Samvat calendar, which is about 56 years and eight months ahead of the Gregorian calendar, the new year is celebrated in mid-April.
“The festivals and everything are based on those calendars,” said CBS president Hemlal Timsina during a Sunday afternoon gathering at the Bill Kergan Centre.
