To All Community members
Today Canadian Bhutanese Society is very sad and shocked to know the tragic death of their community member. A member of Puri family died in fatal shooting incident with Lethbridge Police in a west side home during the domestic violence call. The incident occurred at about midnight of 15th July 2012. Raj Puri son of Jas Maya and Dilli Ram Puri had resettled in Lethbridge, AB during the month November 2011. They came from Refugee camp in Nepal, where they spent about two decades of their lives under the supervision of UNHCR monitored Camps
The community is shocked by the incident and is impatiently waiting for further details regarding the shooting.
I have contacted the Chief of Police as well as LFS Immigrat Services Program Director. They have agreed to make available any information about the incident to the family as well as the community at large. As of now a Private firm, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is investigating the issue. According to Lethbridge police the details of the incident will only be released once the investigation is completed. The body will be taken for Post-Mortem to Calgary, after the post-mortem it will be handed over to the family for the funeral rites.
